Initiatives

One of the key elements of our sustainability strategy is to work with partners, to become members or participate in initiatives to address issues together. Looking at the 3 pillars of our strategy we actively search for cooperation with organisations that can help us to reach our goals. Their expertise on social compliance, sustainable material development, and environmental action are invaluable to transition our products and processes into more sustainable opportunities.

EcoVadis assesses a company on how well a company embeds material topics on Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Business Ethics and Sustainable Procurement in their policies, procedures, trainings and key performance indicators. Based on an in-depth assessment of the organisation and a strict scoring methodology they show how an organization is managing its value chain in a transparent scorecard and a medal score (bronze, silver, gold and platinum). They have scored over 100,000 companies in more than 175 countries and 200 industries. The PF Concept Group has been awarded a Platinum rating, placing PF Concept in the top 1% of businesses in our market for their performance in the field of corporate social responsibility and sustainable business operations.

How can we build trust in sustainability claims? By ensuring trusted traceability for every step of the supply chain. This is why we've partnered with AwareTM, a traceability platform that publicly shares data to verify the entire impact of sustainable textiles, using tracer and blockchain technologies. On top of that, in our Undyed & Aware collection, all products are made from undyed fabrics, reducing environmental impact by eliminating the need for dyes, water, and chemicals.

We have initiated a multi-year partnership with UNICEF the Netherlands to help fund their ‘Plastic Bricks’ program. As the world's largest children's rights organisation, UNICEF provides help with immediate emergencies as well as long-term assistance. UNICEF works around the world to support quality learning for every girl and boy, especially those in greatest danger of being left behind. With their ‘Plastic Bricks’ program we help UNICEF the Netherlands to tackle Ivory Coast’s plastic waste problem and build schools for children.

Since 2022 PF Concept has been committed to the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative. Participants of the UNGC align their strategy and activities with the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption. They actively support the broad goals of the United Nations (incl. the Sustainable Development Goals) and commit to submitting an annual Communication on Progress report.

Sustainable change in globalized supply chains can only be achieved in broad-based partnerships. PF Concept is a member of the Amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) since 2018. This is a code of conduct based on the International Labour Organisation’s standards that help global companies build ethical supply chains whilst continuously monitoring and improving social standards around the world.

The Prevented Ocean Plastic programme is a global recycling initiative that helps tens of thousands of people around the world to earn their living, clean their coastlines and prevent ocean plastic. Prevented Ocean Plastic is recycled plastic collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution. This ocean-bound plastic, according to academic definitions, would likely end up in the ocean if not collected for recycling. Prevented Ocean Plastic works with cross-sector brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and advocates who share our values and want to prevent ocean plastic.

Better Cotton is the world’s leading sustainability initiative for cotton. Their mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment. Since May 2022 PF Concept is a proud member of Better Cotton. Better Cotton is sourced via a chain of custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton is not physically traceable to end products, however, Better Cotton farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in equivalent volumes to those we ‘source’.

Trees and forests play a crucial role in tackling climate change and the loss of biodiversity. There is no life without trees. That is why Trees for All plant new forests worldwide, restoring degraded forests and raising people’s awareness of the importance of trees – whether close to home or on the other side of the world. Their projects help create a better climate, more biodiversity and healthier living conditions for everyone. PF Concept supports Trees for All by donating part of the proceeds of our Pebbles reusable notebook to Trees for All.

Waste2Wear is one of the pioneers in the textile industry for turning waste plastic into yarns, fabrics, and other products. Since 2007 they have been on a mission to relieve the planet of the plastic problem by innovating products made from recycled plastics using traceable and transparent supply chains. Using the most advanced technology, they created their award winning blockchain that provides transparency and traceability throughout the entire supply chain.
