End of life

We are conscious that our products will eventually reach the end of their life cycle. In 2023, approximately 10% of our Scope 3 emissions were attributed to the end of life treatment of our product media, highlighting the significance of addressing this phase. By integrating circular product design for example, we can reduce this impact through more sustainable materials, enhanced recyclability, and improved packaging, ultimately contributing to a lower environmental footprint.

Stakeholder engagement

Our customers and their customers play a vital role in helping to reduce waste. Many of our products are branded with company logos, which means that misprints or customer returns can’t be donated without the proper consent. To avoid waste, it’s important to create awareness that branded products cannot be repurposed without approval, and returning products only adds unnecessary CO2 emissions through transport. If an end customer is unsatisfied with the product, and the complaint has been approved, they have the option to donate it directly, or in case of misprints, give us permission to donate it on their behalf, ensuring it finds a new use instead of going to waste.

Design your branding to promote longevity

Advice your customers to design branding that enhances the longevity of a product, prioritise subtlety, quality, over of bold logos, use discreet branding, like a tone-in-tone logo on a corporate jacket sleeve, which encourages users to wear the item beyond work settings. High-quality, functional designs ensure the product is valued, leading to longer usage. Create timeless and subtle branding that resonates with your audience, allowing products to remain relevant over time.

Circular design

By choosing products designed for longevity and recyclability, you help reduce the end-of-life impact of our offerings. Brands like CamelBak, known for its lifetime warranty, and Americano, which creates products from mono-material for easy 100% recyclability, exemplify this commitment. Additionally, our KAI Jacket and tote feature a take-back system, reinforcing our dedication to minimising waste and supporting a circular economy. Products like the Parker Jotter pen or the Ocean Bottle further illustrate this principle by allowing users to easily disassemble and recycle components, ensuring that every part can be responsibly managed.

Reuse partnerships & donations

We are proud to partner with organisations like Reshare in the Netherlands and several local groups near our factory in Poznan, Poland, to donate samples and products that may not be suitable for branding but are still in excellent condition. Through these partnerships, we ensure that perfectly good items find a new home where they are needed most, rather than going to waste. This commitment to reducing waste and giving back to communities is part of our sustainability mission.
