Cotton

Cotton is a popular fabric for clothing and other textiles, either by itself or blended with other materials. We offer several different types of cotton, from conventional sources to organically certified or even recycled! Find your favourite by looking at the differences below:

Conventional cotton

Cheaper than certified cotton
High environmental impact
No guarantee on social standards

OEKO-TEX®

Certified to be safe for the skin
No environmental or social requirements

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)

Money directly supports farmers with training, higher wages and better working conditions
Lower environmental impact through improved farming practices
BCI cotton cannot be traced back to a product, due to its Mass Balance System
Farming new cotton still impacts the environment

GOTS

Lower environmental costs through strict organic farming and manufacturing guidelines
High social standards through strict rules for fair wages and safe working environments through
     the entire supply chain
Internationally recognised and globally trusted standard that certifies the entire supply chain
     from farm to store
Farming new cotton still impacts the environment

Recycled (GRS certified)

Reduces landfill waste
Recycling requires less water and energy compared to growing, spinning and manufacturing a
     new product
Sets strict guidelines on working conditions and fair wages in all factories of the supply chain
Contains at least 50% recycled content
Some recycled cotton needs to be mixed with synthetic fibers
Difficult to separate different fabrics for recycling
